Modern Universities Research Group Spring Conference 2012
Martin was invited to speak at the MURG Spring Conference in Coventry in March. The title of the conference was 'Postgraduate Training for the New Era' and Martin led a session on 'European funding for post grad training and research'. Martin spoke about the current opportunities and introduced delegates to the proposals for new EU Programmes for 2014-2020, emphasising the importance of an Insitutional strategic approach. Lifelong Learning Programme 2012 Call for Proposals
The call for proposals for 2012 has just been announced. For a number of the sub-programmes and strands, the deadline for applications is earlier than in previous years. For multilateral projects under Erasmus, Comenius, Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig, the deadline is 2 February 2012, and under the Transversal programme the deadline is 1 March 2012.

The selection results for the 'Transversal - Sub-programme' have been announced. They reveal further UK HEI led successes, with 5 more projects securing grant totalling more than €2.2m.
Lifelong Learning Programme 2011 Selection Results
The selection results for the 2011 round of the main sub-programmes under the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) were released on 22 July 2011. Of the 219 projects selected, 21 (10%) are led by UK HEIs, they have secured grant of €7.4m (a fourfold increase since 2008). The UK HEI results under the Erasmus part of the LLP are outstanding, as UK HEIs are lead partners in 24% of the projects and responsible for 25% of the grant awarded.
